Our History
In the late 1980’s the Masonic Province of Yorkshire, North & East Ridings, commissioned a report on the membership of Lodges in the Province. Among other things the report recommended the formation of additional Lodges in the Province and in areas away from the existing Lodges. Accordingly, a group of Masons resident in the Vale of York agreed to form a Lodge in Easingwold called the Forest of Galtres Lodge.
This Lodge was set up to reflect the changing openness in Freemasonry by meeting in a community building and promoting the precepts of Family, Fellowship and Fun whilst retaining the traditions of older Lodges. It was duly consecrated in November 1991 at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold, where it has met continually ever since.
